TOPIC: Building Needs of Cortez including the current Municipal Building

The League of Women Voters of Montezuma County will have a breakfast meeting at 9 am on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Ponderosa Restaurant in Dolores. The speaker for the event is SHANE HALE, CITY MANAGER FOR THE TOWN OF CORTEZ. He will present the needs for additional space for the Town of Cortez, as well as an overview of new events and programs in Cortez.

The League meeting is open to the public.

DURANGO, CO 09/09−10/2013

The Four Corners Air Quality Group held an update meeting September 9-10 in Durango, which was attended by Dr. William Hendrickson, representing our League. A broad spectrum of federal, state and local interests attended as well as industry and NGOs...

Sept. 21 Courthouse Issues Open Meeting Report

The Montezuma County League of Women Voters held a meeting on September 21. The Speaker was the Honorable Doug Walker, Chief Judge of the 22nd Judicial District. District Judge Walker spoke about the functions of the court, and its need for new and appropriate space. Judge Walker discussed some of the problems with the current spaces, including bats, mold and cockroaches!

October is Membership Renewal Month!

It’s that time of the year again − time to renew your League membership! Thank you for your past support and for renewing now so we can continue our League programs. We continue to hold our League dues at $50 for an individual and $80 for a couple to encourage participation. Of course, we welcome additional donations to either our general fund or a tax−deductible contribution to the LWVCO Education Fund. Please see the membership renewal form in the newsletter and return it with your check to Treasurer Denis Boon.
